Few people check the settings on their social media websites and applications. However, the default setting is usually set to public. What does that mean exactly? On Twitter, changes to your privacy settings are similar. You can have only your followers see your information or you can let anybody see it. Unlike LinkedIn, many Twitter users have aliases and don’t usually use their real name. Unless you’re a troll, using the benefits of LinkedIn require you to use your real name and information. Making up an employment history will not do you any good if you’re using the app to network and find a new job or new customers.
While it’s important to keep your privacy settings in a mode that is as secure as possible, often, despite our best efforts at keeping our information offline, sometimes it’s too late and various data miners and data harvesters have already gotten some of your personal information such as your address, phone number or other info.
